What I’m Writing Right Now (And Why It’s Different)

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… it’s been a while since I’ve shown up here.

Life has been full, writing has been nonstop, and somehow my blog got a little too quiet. But behind the scenes? Things have been anything but quiet.

What I’m Working On

Right now, I’m deep in edits for book two in the Disparate Hearts series—A Lieutenant’s Fake Fiancé.

And I’ll be honest with you for a second…

After I finished The Sergeant’s Marriage Arrangement, I didn’t know how I was going to top it.

I loved that story so much. The characters, the emotion, the way everything came together—it felt complete in a way that made me pause and think, Okay… now what?

But the deeper I’ve gotten into this next book, the more I’ve realized something I didn’t expect:

I don’t have to top it.

Because this story isn’t trying to be that one.

It has a completely different energy.

Same world. Same heart.
But the dynamic? It’s not even close to the same—and that’s what’s making it so much fun to write.

Why This Story Is Different

This story leans into tension in a different way. The emotional stakes hit differently. The relationship builds from a place that’s a little more complicated, a little more guarded… and maybe a little more fragile, too.

And watching that unfold has reminded me why I started this series in the first place.

Not to repeat the same story over and over—but to explore different kinds of love inside the same world.

Different struggles. Different people. Different moments that change everything.

I’ve also started outlining the rest of the series, and that’s been one of my favorite parts of this process.

Each book is going to carry its own weight. Its own tone. Its own emotional core.

So if you loved book one, just know this:

I’m not trying to recreate it.

I’m building something bigger.

And I think you’re going to feel that difference.
