The Holy Spirit Is My Co-Author (And Sometimes Editor)

I don’t write alone.

Even when the coffee’s cold, the house is quiet, and the cursor blinks like a dare—I’m not alone at the keyboard.

There’s a presence I’ve come to recognize. A nudge. A whisper. A line I didn’t plan but can’t stop rereading.

It’s the Holy Spirit.

Not just my guide in life—but in writing, too.

✍️ When the Words Aren’t Just Mine

Sometimes I sit down and the words are already waiting.
The characters are softer than they were yesterday.
The sentence lands better than anything I outlined.

And there are moments I’ve written something that stirs my heart, because I know: I didn’t come up with that alone.

📝 When the Edits Hit My Heart First

There have been scenes I felt proud of—clever, well-paced, even powerful.
And then… a tug in my spirit. A quiet, “That’s not it.”

I’ve deleted whole pages not because they were bad, but because they were misaligned. Not with the story’s structure—but with its soul.

It wasn’t what the Lord wanted me to say.

Not yet. Not that way.

That’s when I know the Holy Spirit isn’t just a co-author—He’s my editor, too.

And the best ones are the ones who tell you the truth.

🕊️ The Sacred Act of Storytelling

I believe storytelling is sacred.

Not in a polished, churchy way. But in a raw, redemptive, break-me-open-and-put-me-back-together kind of way.

That means I can’t treat writing like it’s only strategy. Or routine.
Some days it’s spiritual warfare. Some days it’s worship.

But every day, I want to invite the Holy Spirit into the process.

Not because I want the story to be perfect—

But because I want it to be true.

Even the fictional parts.

💬 Let’s Talk About Writing with God

So let me ask you—do you ever feel the Holy Spirit’s presence when you create?

Maybe it’s not writing.

Maybe it’s painting, songwriting, baking, homeschooling, dreaming.

Whatever it is, I believe God wants to partner with you in it.

Because creating with Him is never wasted.

And every blank page is a chance to begin again—with grace.

Thanks for reading, friend.

Drop a comment or message me—I’d love to hear how the Holy Spirit has met you in your creative life.
